TRIQUINT NAMED FASTEST GROWING TOP COMPANY IN NEW STRATEGY ANALYTICS REPORT
TriQuint recognized as one of three market leaders in world’s top ten
GaAs device manufacturers report
HILLSBORO, OR (USA) – August 7, 2007 – TriQuint Semiconductor
(Nasdaq: TQNT), a leading manufacturer of wireless products, was named
the fastest growing company out of the top three among Gallium Arsenide
(GaAs) device manufactures in a report issued by Strategy Analytics.
According to the report, TriQuint revenues grew 37%* year-on-year for
the year ending 2006. Strategy Analytics estimates that total GaAs
device market (merchant and captive) revenues grew 10% year-on-year in
2006 to $3.1 billion, with the three market leaders, including TriQuint,
consolidating their overall ownership of the market from 47% to 55%.
According to Strategy Analytics, the GaAs device market is now split
between companies that target high volume markets and those that have
chosen to focus on high value industry applications. The report notes
“TriQuint is the only company out of the top three that has consistently
had its feet planted firmly in both the high volume commercial and high
value infrastructure and specialist camps. This core strength allows the
company to balance cyclical high volume markets with demand for its
products in high value applications. Under the direction of the
company’s senior management, TriQuint has shown that it can cope with a
changeable and unusually active marketplace over the past year and
compete in key accounts at the top tier of the handset market, while
also consolidating its own leadership positions in infrastructure and
military markets.”
During TriQuint’s February 2007 analyst call, the company revealed
earnings growth of 433% in 2006 over 2005, and announced it is now
supplying production volume for four of the top five handset
manufacturers. In its most recent analyst calls, the company announced a
record number of handset design wins in both the first and second
quarters. TriQuint Chief Executive Officer Ralph Quinsey attributes this
success to its new handset product line, the first pillar of its growth
plan. In 2004, corporate resources were re-aligned to build a leadership
position in RF front-end components for handsets. These components
connect a cellular phone antenna to the wireless digital chipset, while
filtering noise and amplifying signals for better talktime. Mr. Quinsey
noted “The company’s commitment to engineering excellence is paying off,
and we are now seeing significant design wins and sales results. We
expect this volume growth to continue into the foreseeable future,”
exclaimed Quinsey.
Other pillars of TriQuint’s growth strategy include an expansion of
its networks revenue into more general purpose wireless products, as
well as growth in its military product line and new process
introductions for its commercial foundry market. As described in the new
Strategy Analytics report, TriQuint’s diversification approach allows it
to play in multiple markets, while leveraging core technologies and
expertise. According to the report, besides “…being one of the fastest
growing companies, TriQuint retained the mantle of being the world's
largest GaAs foundry in 2006.”
