TriQuint GaN Helps Designers Push Envelope

Top honors at the 2010 IEEE IMS MTT-S symposium student amplifier competition went to teams using TriQuint GaN devices. Winners include: 1st place: Hossein Nemati & Paul Saad, Chalmers University of Technology (Goteborg, Sweden; Christian Fager & Kristoffer Andersson, Advisors); 2nd place: Michael Roberg and John Hoversten, University of Colorado at Boulder (Zoya Popovic, Advisor). Amplifier performance was measured by Agilent; winning devices achieved the highest efficiency in combination with the highest frequency: 1st place: 74.7% efficiency (3.5GHz); 2nd place: 82.6% efficiency (2.15GHz). “TriQuint is glad to support IEEE competitions; we are excited that this year’s winners used TriQuint GaN devices to achieve some of the highest efficiencies in contest history.
