News & Discoveries
Kyocera Names TriQuint RF 'Supplier of the Year': For the 3rd time in as many years, Kyocera’s Wireless Division has awarded TriQuint ‘RF supplier of the Year’ in recognition of TriQuint’s performance in five categories: Technology, Quality, Responsiveness, Delivery and Cost. Kyocera utilizes multiple TriQuint front-end modules and switches for use in its line of CDMA phones. This year’s award is particularly gratifying as TriQuint has increased its presence within Kyocera’s products while maintaining the highest levels of service and performance. TriQuint accepted the award from Mr. Rod Lanthorne, President at Kyocera, during Kyocera’s annual Supplier of the Year conference in San Diego, CA.
Agilent Unveils PDK for TriQuint E/D pHEMT process: Agilent announced the availability of a new foundry-certified process design kit (PDK) to support TriQuint’s TQPED GaAs E/D pHEMT process. The new TQPED PDK completely renovates layout functions, adds many design automation and routing capabilities, and provides a MMIC toolbar personality to help streamline the MMIC design process. One of the PDK’s new capabilities is a TriQuint mailDRC function that can be launched automatically with the design embedded in an E-mail message. This capability allows users to easily and quickly obtain DRC results from TriQuint through their Microsoft Outlook client directly from the ADS environment. The PDK also includes substrate definitions for Agilent’s integrated 3-D planar EM simulator, Momentum, to help decrease design cycle time. The PDK is available now directly from TriQuint.
New High-Efficiency Amplifier for DOCSIS® 3.0: TriQuint has released its newest cable TV EDGE QAM amplifier for headend systems at the 2009 IMS MTT-S exhibition. The new TGA2807-SM offers high-efficiency performance; one device can replace 2 conventional solutions. The new TGA2807-SM is tailored for DOCSIS® 3.0 systems and builds on the successful heritage of TriQuint’s TGA2806-SM & TGA2803-SM. The new device offers ACPR ~2 dB better than previous generations for given bias & power levels; it can be operated at significantly reduced power while meeting DOCSIS® 3.0 standards. The TGA2807-SM comes in a standard 5x5mm QFN package and is available now. You can see the device and many other products for simplified broadband RF connectivity as well as other networks infrastructure products at Booth 1618, or visit TriQuint on the web at www.triquint.com for details.
Army Lab Awards New GaN Contract: The US Army Research laboratory (ARL) has awarded TriQuint with leadership of Phase III of a multi-year gallium nitride (GaN) R&D contract funded through the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The award comes in recognition of TriQuint surpassing goals established for Phase II. This next phase of the program, valued at $16.5 million, seeks to extend device reliability for 48V operation while increasing operational lifetime and expanding performance to cover the high end of contracted frequencies. TriQuint has been a leader in GaN research and development for both defense and civilian applications since 1999.
